About Herrie
Herrie means ‘noise’ and there is certainly a lot of noise around Herrie restaurant in Amsterdam. Its executive chef is one Herman de Blijker, famous for his terrific cooking, his best-selling cookbooks, his enormous personality, and his tv cooking shows patterned closely on our own Gordon Ramsay’s. In fact, the chef for Herrie was chosen through a reality tv series. Oddly, his name appears almost nowhere, though you can see him cheffing away in the open kitchen. This very trendy and exclusive restaurant and bar is set on two levels. Downstairs is the seriously sexy bar, an oblong shape in black leather with mirrored ceiling and an open fire. Upstairs on the dining level, all is light, cream and golden with classic Dutch tiles in creative new interpretations, and another open fire. Tell the server what you fancy or don’t fancy and how many courses you’d like, then sit back and let yourself be beguiled by the wonderful flavours that come your way. Groups max out at ten.
On arrival, please inform the restaurant that your booking was made via toptable.

I reckon Herrie is the best place I have eaten in Amsterdam so far. My parents and I did not choose a la carte but were surprised by beautifull and delicious dishes using only the creme de la creme of ingredients; nothing overdone or tacky, mind you. After our delicious 'Tourist' cocktail and taste-tantalising food and wines we headed for the bar downstairs, which was nice as well. Bar personnel could be more attentive though. Bokkedoorns, eat your heart out!Review
Excellent restaurant, the food was sublime and we were given a free tasting of truffle soup from the kitchen. The French cheese platter was perfect and the wine list was within budget for most people, good value even given the high status of the restaurant. The cocktails were great too, there is a temptation though to over indulge! Herrie makes for a special night out with excellent service. I couldn't rate it higher.Review
delicious meal, a bit pricy, but we knew that, but certainly worth it!Visitors
