About Grainger Rooms
The Grainger Rooms is a chic restaurant in Higham Place in Newcastle serving up simple, seasonal food prepared by chef-of-the-moment Chris Slaughter. The menu at the Grainger Rooms supports local farmers, fishermen and microbrewers. The dining room has a hip vibe – with white walls and black and white designer wallpaper – and the restaurant is a hit with local foodies and fashionistas. Signature dishes here include the smoked salmon served with Sicilian lemons and herb mayonnaise; the roasted loin of rabbit with carrot puree, ginger ale and mustard sauce; and the lemon posset with homemade shortbread for dessert. The short, intelligent wine list has been created by manager Chris Jewitt.

Our first visit to Grainger Rooms. Excellent lunch. Had intended to have starter and main course, but couldn't resist the lemon posset! Will returnReview
I have been to the Grainger Rooms before, and what I love is the fact it uses local, seasonal ingredients. I had some lovely hake caught from North Shields. All was cooked well, the service was very good and I really like the relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended.Review
The Grainger Rooms was a pleasant experience. Whilst we were both disappointed with our starters the main course of beef was excellent and the deserts were very enjoyable, although an explanation of the cheese would have been appreciated.Visitors
