Gilby's food was okay but soooo expensive £15 for a vegetarian pasta dish. Smiley service but they forgot our wine and salad and we were the only customers in the restaurant!!

I wanted to try somewhere new for lunch with my family. I usually try out a restaurant first, checking everything from the menu to disabled access. But Gilby's is a bit off the beaten track for a non-driver, so this was an unknown for me. Everything was right: a relaxed drink in the lounge bar whilst we discussed the menu with the maitre d'; great service - attentive but warm and friendly; superb food; a very good wine list; cosy decor. We'll be back - possibly for all our family events in 2008!

The menu at Gilby's restaurant offers a variety of meals to suit all palates. The food was cooked to requirement and presentation was excellent. Staff were attentive and the meal was unrushed - We dined for over 3 hours! Although a little expensive for lunch time, it is a venue that proved very popular and definitely worth visiting again.

We had a family lunch at Gilbys recently: an 80th birthday should be memorable and this was - good food, great service and staff who joined in the singing when they brought out the cake...This is a sophisticated menu, but the chef/s must be confident with it, judging by the results. Carmarthen beef, Welsh lamb, and Y Fenni cheese - there's no doubt of the food's provenance. I believe there was a staff shortage on this busy Sunday - you'd never have known. Now, whose birthday is next...... ?

I have dined at Gilbys on many occasions and have always found the food and service to be excellent as was the case when I ate at the restaurant recently. The staff were friendly, there was a relaxed atmosphere and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Went to Gilby's for the first time this week and are already planning our second booking. Staff were more than happy to assist us with menu queries and special diets and the selection of food on the menu was varied and tempting. The duck was beautifully cooked and presented as was the rack of lamb with pulses. The hake was a good portion of fish accompanied by well seasoned and flavoursome leek and potato gratin and creamy sauce. Desserts were delightful and service attentive but not intrusive.

Lovely grub, friendly and attentive staff, tables very close to each other which allowed other diners to easily hear our talk. Pricey but good quality, asked for llarge glass of cabernet sauvignon but got shiraz, which is a bit heavy for a lunch.

the early evening menu is as good as the a la carte menu,there was no reduction in quality or service, it was a pleasure to dine in such affable surroundings after a hard days work really helping me to chill out, will definately visit again soon.

absolutely excellent...have eaten there in the evening, however, tried it for the Sunday Lunch, the ambience was perfect, even though we were only 2 people and there were many 4/ 8 parties we felt very comfitable the service was excellent and the food you could not fault, not your run of the mill sunday luch, excellent course of 3 courses, fabulous quality, really couldn't fault it.. would highly recommend.....definitely, one of our favourites.

have been to Gilby's quite a few times......went mid-week. even though a lot quieter, the food and service for the lunch menu was excellent.
Eg. italian, Ritz, Benitos, meatballs...
