Gars menu had a lot of good choices. The duck was lovely, beef ok but nothing special. Starter of prawns was dissappointing as only had two prawns. Good value for money.

We had the £15 set meal at Gars, as we knew we would be pushed for time and thought this would be the best option. We found great service a great offer and most importantly great food. We were very pleased and will definitely go back for the a la carte in the very near future.

It's the second time I've been to Gars. The set November menu is great value with big portions. The food here is great, our beef dish was just that and not padded out with an unreasonable amount of vegetables. I'll definately be going back. Be prepared to spend a bit more than a 'normal' Chinese.

We ate at Gars on a Tuesday lunchtime and were the only diners but don't let that put you off. The food was excellent, just the right amount, well presented and well cooked. Two courses with two beers and a glass of wine came to £34 which is pretty good for Brighton. Decor is clean and contemporary. Service was excellent. Highly recommended.

The restaurant staff were very attentive and the food was amazing. I would definitely go to this restaurant again if I return to Brighton and recommend it to friends too.

When we arrived at Gars Chinese restaurant we were promptly seated. The ambience and decor of the restaurant was pleasant, though the furniture and tableware seemed a little old. The food was nice, but not any better than other cheaper Chinese restaurants in Brighton. The bill came to more than £50 for three people (lunch with no alcohol), which we thought was a little pricey.

The blandest Chinese meal I've ever had. There portion of vegetables was some sort of lettuce with sauce poured over the top. Lots of batter on meat too. Will not go again.
