Gabbro – The food was fantastic and so was the presentation. The restaurant itself is very new, contemporary and chick. The service was second to none. Looking forward to going back. Will definitely recommend.

Gabbro is an excellent newcomer to Edinburgh's restaurant scene and serves excellent food at reasonable prices. This was our fourth visit and on each occasion we have found the menu to be varied with dishes to suit all tastes some of which have been outstanding. Service is always friendly and the small team try hard to please. Gabbro is certainly succeeding in its attempt to develop a loyal following.

Excellent meal we all had the venison which melted in the mouth. Orange and mango parfait was superb. Service was attentive but not fussy. Wine list very reasonably priced. Will be going back

We experienced a warm and welcoming reception from our very pleasant and efficient waitress who was most helpful throughout our visit. All the courses were excellent from start to finish with the P rawn and Scallop starter and Sea Bass gaining special praise. Our wine proved the perfect partner to the food and we will definately be back for more of both!

A wednesday night meal at Gabbro My initial reaction was the ambience was not quite what I was looking for. It's a brightly lit space and feels more like a Bistro upon walking in. The Service was very friendly an effiecient with knowledgable advice on the menu. The Cassolette of scallops & tiger prawns & the Sea Bass as a main were excellent. The Steak main was good but was not the heartiest cut of meat in the world. It was nicely cooked & the sauce was delicious. Good location for Lunch.

Gabbro was a lovely place. It's on a side street that isn't very central, but is well worth making the (small) effort to get to. It has a lovely bistro type modern ambience. Quiet when we got there, it got busier as the evening progressed. The food was lovely. Perfectly cooked Pigeon and Pork was enjoyed by me. Highly enjoyable and will be recommending to friends. Gabbro was very quiet for a Friday night. It's a bit out of the way which may put people off. There was a good selection, though vegetarians were a bit limited for main courses. Reasonably priced with excellent service I would certainly go back again.
Eg. italian, Ritz, Benitos, meatballs...
