About Fouters Restaurant
Fouters Restaurant in Ayr is a landmark hereabouts, an idiosyncratically romantic downstairs restaurant on a little side street just off Sandgate. Set in the vaulted cellars of an 18th century bank, one of Ayr’s oldest buildings, the dining rooms retain the natural stone walls and slated floors from the past as well as the historic bank counter as the bar, all brightened with vibrant art works and the warmth of the atmosphere. Modern Scottish cuisine is on offer with ingredients of extremely high quality and an inventive hand in the kitchen. The passion of the owners is everywhere in evidence, from the fresh flowers to the seamless service. Fouters it means bumbling about is top of everyone’s best of Scotland list.
Please be aware that this restaurant does not allow children under 5 at lunch, and no children under 10 at dinner

My husband and I dined at Fouter's Bistro, Academy Street, Ayr for our wedding anniversay recently and we were certainly not disappointed. We both agreed it was the best meal we have had in a long time (and we eat out plenty!). The restaurant was only half full which is a great pity because with food of this calibre it should be fully booked, especially on a weekend. We will definitely be back and would recommend it highly to anyone who appreciates good food.

This was my 3rd visit to Fouters and I've not been disappointed yet. The menu is varied and inventive with fresh local produce featuring heavily. I chose the crab, pink grapefruit and cucumber salad to start, which was crisp and refreshing, followed by the halibut in a basil butter sauce, which was simply heavenly. My partner chose the vegetarian options which were limited but she said was delicious. The service was attentive but not stifling and overall it was a most pleasant evening.Visitors
