We went early NYE, CG had just opened and was a touch disorganised, but overall the service was very good and attentive and although NYE is a rip-off everywhere it offered the best VFM in the area and the food wasn't bad. Even though it was a set meal and through our own fault we didn't have time for dessert, a sum was omitted from the final bill. A nice touch.

Chez Gerrard on Dover street was probably the nicest Chez Gerrard that I have been to, more atmopshere than usual and good central location. The food was of a good standard and reasonably priced. Service was pretty poor and we spent far too long trying to get the waitresses attention. Perfect for post work dinner with friends with a menu that will cater for everyone.

Having read a previous review about how poor Chez Gerard was I can only say that the reviewer in question must be incredably fussy or the restaurant had had an off day? Both my self and my partner found the food excellant. My steak was well cooked and extramely tender. My partners Beef Bourginon melted in her mouth. The service was of a high standard and the toilets very clean. Apart from being rather quite due to this being a Pre-Theatre meal and slighly expensive we could not fault the place.

I have recently had bad experiences at Chez Gerard Dover Street but today was a complete exception. Despite the fact that the restaurant was more busy than I have ever seen it, our order was taken promptly, the food arrived quickly and the service was friendly and professional. This restaurant is now back on my list of somewhere to revisit.

The food was really good, but we were a large group so they stuck us out in the back room. As a consequence there was no atmosphere and service wasn't great. After ordering it transpired that half of the starters ordered were no longer available. Then, after re-ordering, half of the starters were bought out and then we had to wait for the rest. Regardless of these problems, the service charge was added to the final bill and the waiter had to get the manager's approval to remove it!

Food very over priced for what it was. Service was warm and friendly. Would'nt go back to due price which was ashame.
Eg. italian, Ritz, Benitos, meatballs...
