About Champor - The Malaysian Kitchen

Champor Restaurant is reputed to be one of the best Asians dining experience in Munich (sometimes its wise to believe what you read in the papers). What’s certain is that it’s the Bavarian capital’s very first Malaysian restaurant. This colourful, sitting-room style restaurant is hot news, and pretty much always full at weekend. The food is excellent – fresh and spicy but not over powering, and definitely not Germanised. No doubt, the curry powders’ providence is of significance – they’re imported from Penang. From rendang curry to spicy chilli prawns, each dish is unique and no two sauces taste the same. And no MSG is used (the owner’s allergic). In summer, the crowd spills outside onto Champor’s cosy courtyard. If you’re in town as a visitor, you might like to know that Champor Restaurant is a short cab ride away from the Englischer Garten or English Garden, a glorious 18thcentury park bigger than New York’s Central Park, stretching verdantly from the city centre to its northeastern limits.

I promised myself I would return to the Champor in Munich and this time my wife joined me. We shared soft shell crap starter which again was great, our friends went for the spring rolls. Main courses were all very well received and spices are both delicate and powerful. Malysian food really defines fusion and I look forward to another visit

The Malaysian Kitchen. By far the best restaurant in Munich that we have found. A little out of the way, but definitely worth the trip. Small but not crowded. Welcoming decor. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Spoke very good English and offered recommendations and advice as to the dishes. Is now our faveourite place to eat.

First visit to the Champor in Munich but very worthwhile. Authentic Malaysian food without compromises on flavour and spices to make it too European. The softshell crab starter was first class as was menu choice and variation. There were not many vegatarian dishes on show but they stated that they would be happy to make a veggie version of any of the dishes on offer. Not in the city centre but well worth the visit, I will definately visit again
