About Cafe No 8
This charming eatery is one of York's best kept secrets. Located just behind the old city walls, Cafe No 8 has an intimate bistro-style ambience and a delightful hidden, paved garden out the back. The super-cheerful staff and delicious menu have won this restaurant awards and local loyalty, and the cafe is always buzzing with a laid-back crowd. In the evenings the menu features favourites such as salad with fresh figs, blue cheese and pine nuts served with a blackcurrant and rosemary dressing, and home oak-smoked salmon fillet served with a bubble and squeak cake with a poached egg on top. We also love the vanilla panna cotta with spiced orange and mango salad, and stem ginger ice cream.
Please note - this restaurant does not take any Toptable bookings for lunch.

Cafe 8 is a nice little restaurant serving tasty food. No fancy sauces or crazy plates. Just very good basic food. I had a rare steak that was delicious. I recommend their chicken liver creamy pate.Review
Cafe no 8 was good value witha lovely informal atmosphere good food and great service. Pity I was too full to try the puddings which looked greatReview
Cafe No 8 in York - as the toptable ad said - a hiddden gem. The ambience was great, the staff friendly and the food delicious - especially the goats cheese and caramalized fennel tart, the blue cheese stuffed figs and the apple and cinnamon cheese cake. I throughly recommend this cafe only just outside the city wall.Visitors
