About Cafe Marlayne
An intimate French cafe just off the Royal Mile, near the Festival Fringe offices, Cafe Marlayne is the sister of another beloved restaurant in Thistle Street. This Cafe Marlayne has charming, contemporary decor and smiling service, and nearly identical menu prepared by a sibling of the first CF's chef. The menu here is unapologetically French, and impressive at that. Starters include boneless quail stuffed with boudin noir served with crispy pancetta and apple compote, mains include lamb loin with grilled polenta and fresh herb dressing, and desserts include lemon cheesecake. Mostly French wines.
Opening hours:
Tues - Sat: 12pm - 2:30pm & 6.30pm - 10pm

Cafe Marlayne remains excellent value for money and a really good choice on the menu to keep everyone happy. Service was a bit slow so we didn't feel rushed. House white wine is super as well! Would recommend.Review
Our visit to Cafe Marlayne was most enjoyable. We had to wait a short while for our table but did not detract from our evening. It was very busy being near Christmas but the food was delicious, well presented and we thought excellent value for money. Would certainly go again.Review
Food was wonderful. The steak was perfectly cooked and I'nm fussy about steak being overdone and ruined. Service with a smile despite being extremely busy. Staff were a little hassled as diners queued out of the door on a windy and wet night. Perhaps a little better organisation on the seating would have been better for those who were waiting. Still worth another visit.Visitors
