Located in the heart of Nottingham’s bustling Hockley area, Brownes Bar & Kitchen has been a local institution since it opened its doors in the 80s, and has recently reinvented itself as a contemporary venue. With a cavernous interior, imposing high ceilings and a chic cream and chocolate colour scheme, the bar and restaurant is spread out over a downstairs dining room and a secluded mezzanine area. The open-plan kitchen offers a seasonal menu - our favourite dishes being the smoked haddock with stilton mash, wilted greens and a soft poached egg; the delicious 6oz cheeseburger with bacon, mushrooms and onions, and the herb roasted chicken breast with a spinach and pancetta mash. The cocktails are also superb.
