About Black Door Restaurant

Aiming for perfection. That’s what the Black Door Restaurant in Newcastle is doing and some say it comes as close as is possible in this world. Chef/owner David Kennedy spent months imaging and creating his ideal restaurant and here it is. This is high-end, formal, sophisticated dining in a truly beautiful Georgian building, where the professionalism of the service allows you relax and enjoy your experience. Every detail at Black Door Restaurant has been attended to: the food, the wines and drinks, the service, the décor. Even the bar chairs are comfortable. Naturally, a kitchen of this caliber takes advantage of the excellent local suppliers and menus change frequently. Dishes have included starter of warm salad of partridges with fine beans, salsify and pear and main course of roasted turbot with langoustines, sauté of artichokes and gremolata, dessert of lavender parfait with caramelized almonds, plus amuse-bouche and pre-pud sorbet. The less-expensive wines are decanted with the same care as the superstars and the modernized drinks are a delight.

Please be aware there may be a time limit on your table for Saturday bookings. A Credit Card Number is required for bookings on Friday and Saturday nights, a deposit of £20 per person is required to confirm the table. Diners who cancel within 24hrs will loose their deposit.

Excellent food but conservatory cool with inadequate heating. Evening somewhat impaired by intrusive and over noisy couple at next table who had both clearly had too much wine

The Black Door- a partners birthday - the food was beautiful. I did get a little confused, as we were told that the fois grois was off the menu, probably due to the recent bad press, we ordered our food and included in this, ducks liver on a bed of puy lentils ...however when the maitre dee brought us our food, it was identified by calling it fois grois. I was a little confused, it tasted beautiful... but I guess, this is a difficult issue for a french resteraunt - unforced on us unlike Jemima.
