About Bell's Diner
If your idea of a diner meal includes greasy meatloaf slung onto chipped china plates by a dentally challenged serveuse, then you are not thinking of Bell's Diner. Bell's is like a diner in heaven, with an informal, friendly atmosphere, sophisticated yet rustic decor, equally sophisticated modern European menu and rather elegant clientele. It is housed in a Victorian building split into two rooms, so the intimate ambience is maintained. The menu changes every day, and some recent stellar dishes include red onion and goats cheese tarte tatin with frisee and walnut oil to start, and mains like grilled hake with spicy red wine and tomato sauce. Sweets are a must: try the licorice parfait with poached quince, then linger over an excellent cappuccino.

5 stars all round - it's expensive, but the food really is a cut above, so it's excellent value for money.Review
Very enjoyable lunchtime meal at Bell's Diner and I would thoroughly recommend heading in for a gastronomic meal. The chefs presentation and choice of accompaniments are spot on and even though I live in London, I would certainly go back over and over again!Review
Had a nice meal in BD, a little disappointed with the service - we were initially annoyed, and then I found the waiter slightly smug. Good food though - but I would expect that, as it is not cheap. I would like to see what else is in Bristol in this price range before returning.Visitors
