Superb food and excellent value - would thoroughly recommend. Only nag was that it was very quiet for a friday evening so the atmosphere was a little lacking.

Ok, I know I was pretty pumped after finally nailing that four-months-of-sweat contract, and excited about the prospect of Ian Brown at the Brixton Academy later that night, but 'Baan Thai' - a genuine oasis on the charming Coldharbour Lane - is a true gem; a lovely place. The toptable reviews had already raised hopes of us enjoying a really decent Thai meal, but it was even better than that. Tasty, 'clean' and wonderfully fresh food, and just-right polite, relaxed and efficient service.

baan thai - excellent food, terrible service - we ordered a bottle of wine on arrival and it took 20 minutes because the only person there was then on the phone for ages and then went to take someone elses order before they opened our bottle. Not good when you are on your way to a gig at brixton academy starting at a certain time.....

Baan thai was ideal for a quick bite before heading to Brixton Academy but a bit low on atmosphere especially for a Friday night. The food itself was delicious and good value.

Baan Thai is a cheap and cheerful place that is ideal for a quick meal before a gig at the Academy. It was early evening when I did just that, and we were the only diners at the time. Pad Thai was average - I felt it was too sweet and missing the sour note of tamarind that usually balances the dish. The portion was generous. My date had a (non-Thai!) Chow Mein dish which he enjoyed. I have certainly eaten Thai food I have preferred, but for a quick meal with no pretensions it was fine.

Good food. Really enjoyed the steamed cod, nice presentation too. Thought £15 for a bottle of Mateus Rose (the only other rose was a Rose D'Anjou at the same price) was really steep. Still, it was a perfect place for quick, cheap food before going onto Brixton Academy.

The food in Baan Thai is very good but the resturant is very small. If it got full you are required to keep your coat with you.

Went for a pre gig meal, were the only ones there but the food was superb - we agreed was some of the much better thai we've had in London, especially at that price! Had the phad thai and green chicken curry (safe choices) but very very tasty.
