About Annapurna

Annapurna restaurant in Paris’ chic 8th arrondissement just around the corner from landmarks like the Georges V is the oldest Indian restaurant in the capital. It’s a long-time favourite of lovers, lovers of Indian food and various celebrities. The service is charming while the décor is luxurious and refined, like a true maharajah’s palace, with vibrant sub-continental colours and gorgeous tapestries. In the tiny Indian salon you dine at low tables enjoying the sitar player who is there every evening – the French find it ‘depaysant’, transporting them to another country. The menu is authentic and very familiar to British diners – samosas, curries, tandoories, nans – though here they are spiced with a delicate hand. The biryanis seem to be a favourite, but you could probably choose with your eyes closed and have a marvelous meal. Well-matched wines make Annapurna a very special Parisian institution.

I was impressed with Annapurna on Rue de Berri in Paris. It is subtle and intimate, the staff were attentive but not overly so and the food was superb. The wine list is good too. A good place to go for a romantic meal. I ate alone but it is intimate enough that this was not an issue (the lighting is subdued). In my view, one of the better restaurants I have visited, either in Paris or elsewhere in the World and it dispels the myth that you cannot get a good Indian meal in France's capital city.

we went to annapurna on our first night; Although the ambience was good, I was dissapointed that I wasnt told before hand that they have a separate area that we could book to be seated for our meal where there was live music; I booked main resturant as website mentioned nothing of the above. The food was average, certainly not worth all the money we paid ; Raita was 8pounds in sterling;for starter we had kebab, but a portion is 1 kebab @ 9€ . service was average, not service much with a smile

Delicate Indian food with a good balance of flavours is the trade mark of Annapurna. The service is refined and efficient. However, all this comes at a price that is surprisingly high for Indian food, even in Paris. A single piece of sheek kebab as a starter cost 9 euros and curried prawns came in at 28 euros !! Check the prices on the menu on toptable before booking.
