About Al Sultan
Just off Shepherd's Market, Al Sultan is a small, beautifully run Lebanese that has attracted couples and families for absolute yonks. The Middle Eastern restaurant traditions, white linen, flowers, mirrors and snappy service are all in evidence here, but even if Al Sultan weren't quite so
inviting the food would still win a loyal following. Our absolute favourite thing to do is bring half a dozen friends and order every starter we can lay our hands on. Let the feast begin. Hommos shawarma with lamb and pine nuts is great, so are the Falafel, and Kallaje, the Kibbeh, and Fattouch and the
Moutabal, but those who know say the Tabouleh is truly great. The wine list is an absolute winner, too.

We decided to go for a serious wine - Chateau Musar at £35 - to complement our dinner of starters. The flavours in our DIY-meze were not the most delicate, but each dish was good individually; a few of them, coupled with this fantastic wine, did actually make us moan with pleasure, so it's probably just as well the place was almost empty. Well, it was a Sunday night, when many places in the Mayfair/Shepherds Market area are closed. Maybe the Al Sultan should market its Sunday night opening more?Review
Food: Good, but nothing great. Starters were nice and main lamb was cooked well but served with chips (?!?) Service: APPAULLING! The waiter was very moody. He asked us if we wanted to order main course as we were eating our starters. During service, he practically through the cutlery on the table, and took food away without even asking if we had finished (which we hadn't). Would not return or recommend. Many better Lebanese restaurants available for food, ambience and service.Review
