Forget Brick Lane and the bland slop pushed by the touts, Chapel Market street is the place to come for a curry. There are a few quality curry houses here, and Spices is probably the best of them. Ask the owner for his recommendations for the best experience.

Spices was everything we expected. Great value and brilliant tasty food. The waiters were very helpful, if not overwhelmed by the amount of people they had in. This was quite sad as we had to wait nearly 2 hours till we were fed. But once it came and we were invited to check it was to our taste first, it was very good. I think we will be going back again.

The decor at Spices is your usual Indian restaurant with music in the background. However I guess this in not why the regulars keep coming back. It is the food & the service that score high marks on our visit. Extensive menu with lots of choices & very knowledgable staff. We were always asked to taste each dish to see if they were to their liking, as if they weren't they would've been happy to modify them for us. Authentic dishes cooked perfectly and competently. Would definitely go back!

Excellent food!! I would highly recommend the spinach and poached egg starter which sounds weird but was yummy!! Interesting choice of dishes (and lots of them) and lovely fresh taste. BYO means that what is already fantastic value for money becomes even more so. I loved it and will definitely be back!!

Spices was great, the waiter made us choose something different from what we normally eat in an Indian, and it was very good value, we ate on a week day at 7 so it was empty apart from us but that was fine as we got all his attention and all the food was cooked freshly as we ordered. There was no special offer and no need of one!

We first went to Spices on a 'date' and were so thrilled that we went back again with a visiting friend! The food was excellent - we ordered things from the 'traditional' section (starred to indicated that they were Bengali style) and they were fantastic. Our host (maybe the owner?) was incredibly friendly, advised us on ordering and even brought out a piece of lebu to show us what the fruit looks like! Highly recommended for either a nicer or casual curry!
Eg. italian, Ritz, Benitos, meatballs...
