To be honest we were quite disappointed with Rhubarb. The setting is beautiful, and you're first led into a lounge with an open fire for drinks which is very atmospheric. However, it was downhill from there. My partner didn't finish his starter as it tasted of water, the rest of the food was ok but not outstanding, our drinks weren't served, our bill was miscalculated and the service was less than attentive. Overall, it was disappointing and too expensive for the quality of the food offered.

This was our first visit to Rhubarb and definitely will not be our last. The surroundings were wonderful, the service impecable, the food mouthwatering and the overall experience better than most other five star establishments. The Rhubarb tasting plate desert was amazing with four different puddings made of Rhubarb - well worth the £10 price tag. The festive menu at £35 for three courses was excellant value and the steak was mouthwatering.

Rhubarb was a wonderful place for dinner - impeccable service and food. It is an ideal venue for a romantic evening although I went with work colleagues and we had a fantastic time too.

Rhubarb was an excellent restaurant. The ambience was incredible with delicious food. The set menu was very reasonably priced at £25 for a main with a starter or pudding (which were delicious). I highly recommend it. The only problem was that the vegetarian options were very limited.

Rhubarb, Edinburgh, Saturday 17th November 2007; great ambience, great food but sadly let down tonight by exceptionally slow service - a one hour wait for the main course. The staff were extremely apologetic, whilst waiting and after the meal and did credit the bottle of white wine from the bill. Let's hope the slow service was a one off - due to a computer crash as the staff informed me.

Wow Factor Rhubharb certainly does have, what a great reception and the surroundings, you just would not think that you are a 5 minute drive from the city centre, its a hidden gem. However.....Not once did a member of staff ask any of the party if everything was ok, or if we enjoyed our meal. And the biggest let down was the food it was good but not excellent, each plate was not quite right and at those prices it should be EXCELLENT, Value for money it was not. Set Lunch looked like an option!
