Raj Moni offered good quality and very good value Indian food. Crab cakes for starters were v.poor. The service was so so slow and really let down the rest of the meal. At one point none of the tables in the restaurant had any food on them and it was hardly a busy evening - bizarre.

Went to Rahj Moni on Tuesday evening - the food was great and excellent value for money. It was a very quiet night -there were only 2 other couple there - so no atmosphere. We will go again when it is a bit busier.

We went for the Toptable deal which was great value for money...far too much for us to eat and really tasty/well presented. The space was quite small but cosy and pleasant. The waiter who seated us we found to be a bit rude and impatient but this wasn't the general attitude and the service was pretty good after that.

We started with the standard poppadoms and sauces which were in themselves unusual as they had clearly been made at the restaurant and not taken from a jar. The King prawn butterfly starter was decent but the tandoori grill was brilliant, a huge portion too. Coffee was awful which was comfortingly traditional for an 'English' Indian and we enjoyed the experience so much that we stayed chatting until 0030am. We did not have to ask for the bill " Will go again !

The staff are charming, and the decor is cheery. Sadly, though, the food is quite average so we wouldn't recommend this restaurant. The lamb was tough, the crab cakes had no discernible crab (more like felafels) and the curried vegetables were much too salty. Not a great situation for a restaurant on a street with so many options to choose from.

Raj Moni Indian Cuisine is a small restaurant with quick service & greatvalue for money. We had a set menu for £14.95 for a starter, any main dish, side dish, rice, nann bread & bottle of Cobra or glass of wine & the dishes are generous and it was too much for us. I would recommend this restaurant

There are a number of good Indian restaurants on Upper Street, and this is certainly one of them. In the competitive market that is Upper Street Eateries, you have to be good to survive, and Raj Moni's have been there since I moved into the area 7 years ago. The food is excellent all round! None of the oily efforts lesser restaurants come up with. Definitely try the lime/mint sauce that comes with the poppadums. Only criticism would be the cost of the beer...at almost £5 for a large bottle
