The restaurant is set in an old chapel which still has its original features of the pulpit and remeberance stones in the walls. The dining tables are situated upstairs and are tiered where the pews once were. This is very open space but cosy at the same time. Food was good quality and service friendly.

Stunning venue beautifully restored and converted by the passionate new owners. Derby really needs something of this calibre. Presentation of venue and cuisine and effort of both staff and management is exceptional. However, service that night very slow and meal dragged on a bit. But staff lovely. We did enjoy the meal, but being uber critical we felt it just stopped short of being 'excellent'. Simple and well executed menu - which is how it should be. Will definately dine again.

First visit to Masa was for a business lunch, the service was on the slow side for the occasion especially as the restaurant was empty. We all had beef tartare to start, main courses being cod, chicken & calves livers. The food was excellent. We would all return but at a busier time.

We chose Masa because it sounded intriguing - I've never had a meal in a converted Wesleyan Chapel before. We weren't disappointed. The set lunch menu was short but with lots of interesting choices and some unsual ingredients - lamb sweetbreads for starters and a stout ice cream with a bitter chocolate tart to finish. The setting was great - the tables on different levels in the balcony work really well and the food was tremendously good value. Shame there weren't a few more diners though...

We had a very enjoyable evening, the food was excellent, the service attentive without being intrusive, and the setting (previously an old chapel) was delightful. However, for a similar cost we have recently eaten at a 5 star hotel in Mayfair. We would highly recommend Masa for a special occasion.

Delightful place, ina strange location within Derby. The interior, service and friendliness was outstanding. The portions a little small, but very tasty and well presented. I would return again :)

Masa is set in a beautifully converted Wesleyan chapel. Everything about the experience was laid back, and the food and service was extremely good. The only down side to the experience was the dining area was a little cramped, and the service, excellent as it was, was incredibly slow. We arrived at 8, the starters arrived at 9 and finally left at 11.30. If you wish to spend a relaxing evening with good food in an unique atmosphere then I'd recommend Masa. If you're in a hurry then maybe not.
