We selected from the Special menu, which was £8 for two courses and excellent value. The starters were ok - my husband had mussels and some were a little gritty; my bruscetta was very tasty. Our main course pasta was delicious and I would definately recommend a visit to try it. My dessert (creme caramel) was ok. It was difficult to score Mari e Monti on ambience as we ate early (6.30pm) on a Monday when the weather was appalling, so not too many other diners. People were arriving as we left.

Mari e Monti.....considering the reviews we were expecting great things but sadly disappointed....only two other diners on a cold evening....we have experienced it but won't be returning, the meals were just not that special..

The food was delicious The main courses were a departure from what we normally order - pasta and we were pleasantly surprised. I would strongly recommend the t-bone veal and the pancetta wrapped guinea fowl. The down side was that the portions were a bit on the large side- but as the food was delicious I have had to go to the gym for the following three days to counter what we ate ;-) The service was pretty good as well and the owner was very personable- checking to see if we were okay.

Mari e Monti is a great place for a romantic meal. Excellent service and nice ambiance. The food is good generally, although this time my seafood starter was rather chilled and tasteless. Good selection of wines at reasonable prices.

We would certainly recommend this Italian for the food, service and ambience. Having just moved to the area, we used Toptable’s recommendation to use Marie e Monti. The only slightly disconcerting thing about the place is that it is located just above a Burger King however once inside this is quickly forgotten. A good menu with some interesting dishes along with some solid Italian staples. The carpaccio was perfect and generously sized. Service was attentive and friendly with a real family

Very friendly and efficient staff. Excellent menu with lots to choose from - including a varied vegetarian option. Food was well cooked and presented and the wine was great too. Would highly recommend a visit.

Friday lunchtime was not a popular time to visit this restaurant - we were the only ones there! Staff were friendly and very attentive, however, the location is quite difficult to find if you don't know Reading or you miss the entrance to The Walk.

Meal lovely and fresh. service friendly and efficient. However, very quiet- you would never know there is a restaurant at the locatio. Wine list on the expensive side - fair that a meal for two with one of the cheapest bts of wine comes to around £60. Nice to have an authentic Italian nearby!
