L'Eglise (church road, Hove) is a delightful little French restaurant. Some well priced meals starting from around £12 rising to £20, with special's which included Aborath Smokies which didn't fail to excite the taste buds. All the starters seemed to be of a similarly high standard. The mains where good if not spectaculor but that could be our choices. The French dessert was incredible as was the wine, which was standard price. In summary not the cheapest but of high quality. be fat & happy

I took my beloved to L'Eglise for a romantic meal on Easter Weekend. The room itself isn't awe ispiring - just subdued elegance and understated furnishings. All staff were charming and attentive - but never pushy. The concise menu was perfect and both our steaks were cooked to perfection. We would definitely go back. Our meal cost about £81 including dessert, a bottle of Sancere and champagne cocktails. The taxi from our hotel in Brighton cost about £10. A delightful restaurant!

Our L'Eglise recently and it was one of the bestwe've had in this country - or anywhere. It reminds me of Le Grizli in Paris: robust but expertly cooked French food; friendly and professional service; excellent short wine list. Our starters were fantastic; the wine was excellent and our main course was brilliant. If you want fine French cooking which owes as much to la cuisine bourgeoise and the traditions of the provinces as it does to Alain Ducaisse, you will love l'Eglise. Very good value!

Our first visit to L'Eglise and the food was excellent my only criticisim is that there are to many tables and you are sitting on top of the people next to you so difficult to have a romantic meal.

We had a fantastic meal at L'Eglise. It was a quiet night but the friendly staff and owner made the atmosphere warm and welcoming. The menu was excellent featuring locally sourced ingredients. we plumped (literally) for the cote de boeuf to share. It was some of the best beef I've had, with duck fat chips to die for (so large we took a doggy bag home - so it's beef sandwiches for lunch today). we'll definitely be going again.

L'Eglise was one of those restaurants that i'd been meaning to try, but hadn't got round to doing. I should not have overlooked it so long. From the outset the service was very friendly, making it obvious with their assured charm that they knew what they were doing & setting the scene for a fun & interesting meal. We dined quite early on a weekday lunchtime, but weren't the first there & noted how everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves. We soon joined in. Good traditional French cuisine.

Robust and confident cooking, excelent homely service as well from the owners. Sunday night was a bit deserted as expected but book early for weekends. Only thing to bear in mind, this mostly classic French cooking with top notch ingredients and vegetarians may not have as much choice as us carnivores!
