Il Pagliaccio is great value for a Michelin star restaurant. As expected not typically Italian but great food, presentation and service. Very helpful sommelier and other staff making a huge effort to please. Wine prices excellent with low markup. Best food we had in five nights in Roma, and for a fraction of the price you would pay in Paris or London.

Would recommend this to anyone. Everything from the staff to the food was excellent, sirloin steak 1st course was very good, and I’m a butcher. I even had a nice chat with the two head chefs who found time on a busy Saturday night service for me, that's the kind of excellent restaurant it is.

I was reminded of how great a dining experience can and should be - the food was consistently excellent from the delicious selection of fresh speciaility breads to the creative and well executed dishes and the eclectic wine list, the offerings were consistently first class (we really should have tried one of the tasting menus). The service impressed; obliging and personal yet always professional. If Il Pagliaccio was in London, I'd be keeping quiet for fear of everybody finding out about it...

Our meal at Ristorante Il Pagliaccio was one of the highlights of our first visit to Rome. Thanks to toptable we were off the main tourist track and had a fabulous meal with the 7 course tasting menu. Beautifully constructed and presented dishes. Very friendly service. The restaurant is modern in an old building with pretty garden at the back - relaxed atmosphere - we were there for four hours! Not cheap but it was a treat for boyfriend's birthday and well worth it for the food and service.

Il Pagliaccio was very cool! Not cheap, but remember this is top class cooking in a top class venue in a fantastic City - so actually it was pretty good value. The staff couldn't do enough for us, whilst maintaining a pleasant relaxed feel at the same time. The wine list is really varied too, unlike some Michelin starred restaurants you're given the option of a cheaper bottle of wine. I can't remember the name of the maitre d' but he was a top chap too.

The whole dining experience was fantastic. The wine they recommended was good and the waiters were friendly. Overall the service, food and wine were ace.
