The restaurant is airy bright & with a good view of the Portobello Road. The style is baroque-ish in design & suggests that it has seen better more affluent days. The food was somewhat limited at lunchtime (more or less a set menu) and so minimalist that we had to pop in to Starbucks afterwards for a coffee & a brownie : ) Not ideal when you’ve just spent £60 on a lunch for 2. The service was adequate & warm but I probably wouldn't go back.

First floor is a nicely decorated upstairs pub dining room serving reasonably priced comfort food. My pork belly was lovely, as was the apple crumble but given there were only two tables, query why it took so long to get our meals?

I love this place. Great tasting, simple food away from the hustle and bustle of the market. Great view over Portabello Road. Perfect for brunch or lunch on the weekend.

First lunchtime diners in the restaurant so it was quiet but the winter sun shone through our open table window and we soaked up the atmosphere on Portobello Rd. My blue cheese & fig salad was minute but delicious and the trout perfectly cooked, if a little plain. Choice of wines has been well thought through so lots to choose from and sink further into the relaxed Sunday vibe. Always love this location and although the food isn't the best on offer, it certainly oozes great atmosphere and charm

First Floor Restaurant was simply average. It promised a lot but does not really deliver. Food was average. Prices were reasoanble with a Toptable discount but if I was paying full price I would have been disappointed. The steak I had was not great quality. The room itslef is great but on the Thursday night I was there it was pretty empty and lacked ambience. The staff were friendly but not at all attentive and I had to get up and ask if someone would mind taking our order.

First floor was first rate. Candle lights, high ceilings and sufficiently calm that we could have a conversation without shouting at each other. The menu is original without being pompous and the food was great: devilled lamb's kidneys, partridge, lemon creme brulee were all very good (although partridge slightly overcooked). Good value with TT offer - will go back.

First FloorRestaurant. A wonderful restaurant with exceptional food and well priced quality wine. Warm atmosphere helped by the service which was efficient, helpful and came with personality. Would recommend to anyone. In additon we booked through toptable at 5pm for a booking the same night at 8 so worked out very well.

The First Floor restaurant is a nice little find in Portobello. The decor and service was welcoming and the food excellent. There seemed to be some confusion over the offer and we had 50% off rather than the advertised 2 courses for £15 but this actually worked out better for us so no complaints. Would revisit and recommend.

We visited on a Sunday lunchtime and the restaurant was fairly full. Service was slow but we were happily chatting and hadn't really noticed until the waitress offered us a bottle of wine on the house! Food was excellent and service very friendly. We used the Top Table deal, but would visit again anyway.
