The food at First Edition was lovely as always, however the service was a little slow. Would highly recommend the scallops and fish cakes, fantastic presentation and absolutely delicious. Great place for a client lunch or for a glass of wine.

Medium rare steak overcooked. Server managed to spill water on guests and drop plates on table - no real apology. Food was OK but not as good as when I last went in 2006.

The food is lovely, but the service was abysmal - friendly when we got it, but it was an effort to get anyone's attention, and it took forever to pay the bill. High number of fish dishes which I love, but doesn't suit everyone, though a few alternate choices.

I chose First Edition for lunch as it is in a really convenient location. The atmosphere is pleasant and we were able to sit outside and enjoy the warm weather. The salad I had to start with though was a bit lacking. I felt like I was just eating a bowl of leaves as there was very little dressing on it. The main was spot on though, with the swordfish I ordered being cooked to perfection. I'll definitely go again, but will probably stay away from the salads in future.

First Edition is a good place to take a client for lunch where you can have a simple, quick meal. Served it's purpose well.
Eg. italian, Ritz, Benitos, meatballs...
