Daniels Bistro in Leith - easy parking, fairly standard menu, reasonably priced but nothing too adventurous. Handy for the visitor attractions, but perhaps not worth a trip for its own sake.

Average food, undrinkable house red and lacklustre service. shame cos it's in a good location and feels quite pleasant but if you're going to cook authentic French Bistro dishes they should be fresh and perfect.

We honestly didn't recognise any of the descriptions when we got here! The lovely Leith waterfront is actually a view of the car park and the Scottish Executive! Granted, we could see some water but it was hardly a waterfront! The food was decidedly average (Gordon Ramsay would have a few things to say about trying too hard at lots of things and succeeding in none) and the waiter was almost as icy as the weather. The menu went to great pains to explain just how much effort went into producing

Four of us dined at Daniel's Bistro in Edinburgh. We had four different main dishes and three different desserts, and each of us was delighted with the meal we chose. If you are taking guests out for a meal, Daniel's seems like a safe bet, because they go out of their way to avoid the bland and the ordinary. My only criticism is that the main dining area has quite a lot of tables in a fairly limited space, which might deter those who prefer intimate surroundings, but the food amply compensates.

Daniel's Restaurant is an excellent mid-range restaurant. Everything we ordered was delicious and perfect for the price we paid. Desserts especially were heavenly. Service was good, however the choice of music detracted from the atmosphere - I imagine bad pop was not what most diners were expecting! Overall, a very enjoyable meal, and I would recommend Daniel's to anyone.
Eg. italian, Ritz, Benitos, meatballs...
