Good straight forward chinese restaurant. Ambiance and service are OK, but quality of food is great.

Went to China City on NYE so we could guarantee a table for 6. It took 25 minutes between the starter and main course as we watched all the food go to a party upstairs. We felt we'd been neglected for someone else and this tainted the evening.

China City was an excellent place for a bunch of friends to meet for a catch up, conveniently located on the edge of China Town by Leicester Square, we didn't have too far for the elderly of our group to walk afterwards to catch transport either. The food was delicious and they accomodated us for a change of dish to avoid seafood (allergy) which was appreciated. The house wine went down very well, and the restaurant was clean and tidy.

I booked China City 6 weeks before my birthday for 14 people. Service was so slow that it took over 2 hours to get our main course. When I asked where it was, I was rudely told that they were busy (there were 2 other diners). To get a drink you had to go into the kitchen and get the waiters every time. All three courses of our set meal were served at once after waiting 2 hours. Not all of the ordered food was served and they lost my birthday cake Id brought in. The whole thing was dreadful

Imperial China (as it is now known) never fails to impress. I had a wonderful, high-quality dinner there - outstanding food, excellent service and perfect location. Highly recommended for anyone who has never had the pleasure of going there!

We had the set meal at China City which was good value. Good for a pre-theatre meal

We went to China City specifically for the steamboat. To date, it's the best steamboat we've had in London. The restaurant is modern and comfortable ... there's karaoke upstairs! The food, fishballs, meat & veg was fresh and the soup was tasty.

I went to China City for my birthday with 17 guests. We were seated at two separate tables (perhaps unavoidable). Twenty minutes after arrival we ordered drinks but it took another 20 minutes for them to give us the cocktail menu, despite repeated requests. Ordering food was also an arduous process. It took another two hours to receive just a starter and a main course. The food was lovely but poor service marred the experience. They did not understand our refusal to pay a service charge.
