We had never tried chapter one even though it is very close to us as we had heard bad things about it. I'm really glad we did on this occasion which was our anniversary as it really made the night very special! The service was very good and the food was outstanding. The food was beautifully presented and the flavours complimented eachother perfectly. As it was a Monday night it we expected it to be quiet but there were still a fair few diners. We will most certainly be returning very soon!!

I was disappointed as I had diabolical service when I last went to Chapter One 18 months ago. After so long, I thought it safe to return and I was right! We had a really good meal with excellent service and I can't wait to go back.

Quite simply, Chapter One provided the best dining experience I have had! The restaurant goes in for beautiful food presentation, of the sort where you have a large plate and a small, decorative serving. Don't be misled into thinking it therefore isn't good on value for money - the servings were surprisingly generous, and the meal utterly satisfying. As for the service - perfect. Attentive staff, but no rushed feeling, nor were there constant interruptions. I can't think of a single negative!

Chapter One is one of my favourite restaurants. The service and food are excellent. There is a great choice, their starters are varied and delicious, their fish main course are always excellent quality, plus presented and cooked to perfection. Desserts not to be missed ***** 5 star I highly recommend their dessert selection .

What can I say, Chapter One excelled itself again with its excellent food and service, the only let down was we had to wait nearly an hour for our table as it was so busy, making it late for us to eat, finally got our starters at 2245. Definitely worth a visit on a special occasion but make sure you book well in advance to avoid disappointment!

The lunch was excellent at Chapter One, in particular the most inventive Venison Shepherd pie with a mashed potato velouté served as a starter. The intensity of flavour was absolutely scrumptious.

chapter one still remains one of my favourinte restaurants locally. the thre course lunch menue for £18 is good with a reasonable choice. wines are priced over a good range so there is choice there too. the staff are very friendly and helpful. parking is good though the evenings can be harder. a mixed style and level of dress, but one can certainly dress up if you care to.
