Food excellent, menu excellent, but check if any large groups in that night as upstairs is way too noisy if you actually want to talk.

Chakalaka provides a good dose of South Africa. Good food and good music (think Mango Groove and the Nude girls). Also a favourite of mine is the monkey-gland sauce! Will definitely be back.

The food at Chakalaka is of a consistently high quality - the blesbok special was lovely and the favourites kudu and ostrich were as tasty as always! The service was unenthusiastic and lacked consideration; and the salad we ordered as a main was brought out ten minutes after the rest of main dishes after we had asked for it twice.

For a very relaxing meal, with good unobtrusive friendly service. You can't go wrong with Chakalaka. I had both of the specials crocodile to start and followed with bestbok -which was incredibly succulent, my friends had chicken livers periperi and the ribs and ostrich all good cuts of meat and also cooked to perfection. We sat in booths which feel more luxurous than tables. Service was very good and staff very helpful with choosing from the menu. This our 2nd time and as good as before.
