What a lovely place, so cosy and comfortable. The special new years Thalli was amazing! Unfortunately my partner wasn't feeling well so i had to rush off and didn't fully appreciate the place. We are planning to go back soon though so that my boyfriend can have a good meal, which he certainly will here. Considering i am vegan there was a great deal of choice too, the staff were really nice.

Chai Pani was a peaceful haven from the busy streets outside. Food was good without being brilliant, but was prepared in an authentic Rajasthani style - useful when you have guests from that region of India. If anything the food was a little too spicy for our Indian friend, but fortunately the attentive waiting staff were on hand to provide yoghurt/water to cool things down.

Chai Pani was a refreshingly new experience for our tastebuds. The Rajasthani food was simple, filling and delicious. On real silver thalis, too! The non-alcoholic drinks were tasty with wide variety.

Chai Pani was very small intimate place we'd gone there for a family lunch and overwhelmed it a bit 7 of us. but the food was good if small portioned and the chai was lovely.

First Rajasthani place we've been to in London. Food was good in parts - the gatte ki sabzi was good, although my wife, who is Rajasthani, did not find the baati authentic enough. Chapatis were cold and crisp (they should be hot and soft!) However, our server was friendly and offered to replace the chapatis, although after we'd eaten them. All in all we found the food somewhat overpriced.

In an area with almost exclusively Middle Eastern restaurants, it is refreshing to find a modest little Rajasthani restaurant like Chai Pani in its midst. Food is vegetarian and portions are generous but quality does not stand out. Decor is simple but comfortable enough. Prices a little high for what you are getting ultimately though.
