I've wanted to go to Benares for some time, so my expectations were high, and I can honestly say they were exceeded!! The food was exquisite. The sommelier was fantastic, recommending the most amazing bottle of white from Bonnie Doon in California, it complimented the food perfectly. The staff were attentive but not suffocating and very knowledgeable. We did not feel rushed at all. The whole is experience was first class. I can't recommend it enough - it's a must!

I have wanted to go to Benares ever since watching Atul Kochhar on The Great British Menu... After the raving reviews of his ability to use spices I was definitely not disapointed! The starter was amazing - Soft shell crab - and the main course of pistachio crusted lamb shank was a perfect example of his fusion of east and west foods - Delicious! Not a place to go to every week because of the prices, but well worth the money for a special meal.

We chose the set meal offer for 24.99, after adding cocktails the bill went up considerably. Food was excellent as always, service not over bearing. Would reccomend for a very special night out/

This was our first outing to Benares, having sampled their food at the Taste of London Festival. We went for the "Marriage made in Heaven" grazing menu that match food and wine - and weren't disappointed the meal was delightful and the staff very attentive happily answering all our queries and talking us through each of the dishes and wines. We will definitely be going back.

Benares, Berkley Square. Beautiful restaurant and bar area...fabulous cocktails...but service went off to a bad start with our cocktails being spilt, with no apology. We went for the set menu - starters and dessert were fab but mains not so good. We asked for a cake to be bought out for our b-day party and were charged £20 handling fee!!...so when bill arrived we deducted £20 from the optional tip. We were then asked why the money was short. Will give it another chance on a la carte menu.

My husband and I went to Benares for our 1st wedding anniversary and it was amazing. The flavours were exquisite. The starters were suitably sized so as not to fill you up totally and the mains were bigger than I expected. We would highly recommend the white chocolate mousse with passion fruit sorbet we shared for dessert - heavenly. Definitely one of my favourite dining experiences and Atul Kutcher even came out to meet the diners!
