A bit concerned when we were offered a table with Bench seats in the Bar area rather than the main Restaurant section - but in fact Bar area in our opinion was more intimate and cosy. Bench seating was 'padded' and very comfortable, and Lighting and general ambience was lovely. Menu/Food and Service was excellent - we will definitely eat here again!

We had a late lunch at the Balcony Bistro for a friend's graduation celebrations. The restaurant is within the Barbican Centre, which was the location of the ceremony. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the restaurant and food. The Xmas menu was very good, with everything on offer: turkey, roast veg and xmas puds. A few good vegetarian options were also available. The service was friendly and the restaurant has a good atmosphere. Overall, a nice experience.

We went to the Balcony Bistro at the Barbican just pre a Barbie symphony concert. The staff were happy to deal with the unusually large amount of little girls in the restuarant and were pleasant and attentive. The food was good. Crusty bread was nice but did mean that the floors could have done with a quick sweep as tables changed over.

The Balcony is a good place to go for a light lunch during the week.

The 2 of us went there for a pre concert meal. The waitress was confident that we could have 2 courses but it was really rushed due to slow service. The starter of Chicken Caesar was good, lots of chicken and tasty sauce. The Lamb Tagine was bland, a plain lamb stew, and there was no figs in the figs cous cous. Overall it was passable but quite expensive for the decor and food. The table was rickety.

Balcony Bistro is nothing fancy, but ideal for a light bite at lunchtime. With huge windows and a large terrace over-looking the Barbican water features, Balcony is both spacious, light and relaxing.

Balcony Bistro menu was a little unimaginitive, and the food not quite hot enough. Quite pricey for what you get.

As we got to sit outside it was really lovely surroundings. Not much choice of food from the menu but what they do have is nice and the staff are helpful and friendly.

Whilst the Barbican Centre is in a 70's time-warp, the food and service at the Barbican Bistro is definitely up-to-the-minute. The starters were very on-trend and the bread and oils were worth the extrra cost. The salmon with herb crust was delicious and not too heavy before an evening of culture. Only criticism was the cookies and cream for dessert, which was very bland and didn't mentioned the addition of hazelnuts, bad if you're allergic. Otherwise a good meal, £80 for two including wine.
