Amber, Edinburgh. On arrival we were shown to the bar area where we could choose from (among other drinks) some 340 whiskies! There was a very large group in the restaurant which becuase of their loudness spoilt what would have been a quiet dinner. The service is attentive without being fussy although it took an age for the bill to arrive. Food is of a generally high standard although desserts were a little disappointing (still frozen berries were used with the whisky & marmalade ice cream).

The Amber restaurant was a very pleasant dining experience. Service was very good and the staff looked after us well. The starters were really tasty and other courses were good value for money. Would recommend this restaurant, especially if Scotch Whisky is your favourite tipple!!

A lovely small restaurant in the bowels of the scotch heritage centre, which should be a great venue for a romantic dinner for two, but on this occasion was slightly spoiled by a raucous hen's night booking on the other table. I highly recommend the salmon starter.

It's the first time I have ever had a police escort to a restaurant but situated as it is between the ticket check and the entrance to the Edinburgh Tattoo "Amber" requires such attention in August. It was certainly worth it - a fanatstic choice of cocktails before hand, polite and attentive service, and first class food at every course. The Buccleuch Fillet steak alone was worth the trip. Top marks for pretty much everything!

Excellent food, nice surroundings and superb staff. Our waitress, Shona, was friendly and made our meal a pleasure, while Justin produced some great single malts to match each course. The food was fresh, well cooked and well presented. Do yourself a favour and save some space for the sticky toffee pudding. We will definetley return next time we're in Edinburgh
