We decided to go for a serious wine - Chateau Musar at £35 - to complement our dinner of starters. The flavours in our DIY-meze were not the most delicate, but each dish was good individually; a few of them, coupled with this fantastic wine, did actually make us moan with pleasure, so it's probably just as well the place was almost empty. Well, it was a Sunday night, when many places in the Mayfair/Shepherds Market area are closed. Maybe the Al Sultan should market its Sunday night opening more?

Food: Good, but nothing great. Starters were nice and main lamb was cooked well but served with chips (?!?) Service: APPAULLING! The waiter was very moody. He asked us if we wanted to order main course as we were eating our starters. During service, he practically through the cutlery on the table, and took food away without even asking if we had finished (which we hadn't). Would not return or recommend. Many better Lebanese restaurants available for food, ambience and service.

Al Sultan has no vegetarian main courses. However, this doesn't matter as the selection of starters is enormous and vegan-friendly, and in fact it's better just to order a large selection of hot/cold starters and ignore the main courses altogether. Tables are nicely spaced so you're not on top of the next group, friendly staff, and very high quality food.

At Al Sultan on Thursday evening. Although quiet when we arrived it was buzzing with late diners when we left. We stuck to the meze due to no veggie choice in the main courses. There was a good choice of Meze and the quality and freshness was great. Service was a bit hit and miss but generally good. NB watch out for the minimum spend requirement.

The food at Al Sultan was really nice and so was the atmosphere. The service wasn't that friendly but I would definately suggest going there.

We visit AL SULTAN frequently and have never been disappointed. The mezze (starters) are the stars, and we usually make a meal of mezze -- to moderate the waistline and the bill. From the moment we are served a plate of fresh raw veggies to the mint tea for a finish, we get gracious service and an ambience of exotic Middle Eastern charm.

We opted for a mezzes-only dinner and were very happy with our choice. The quality and the presentation of the dishes is fabolous. Service was attentive but not very friendly and carefully. Main critcs: Our red "Château Musar" at GBP 40 was less than mediocre.
