Abstract restaurant is a dinning experience to savour. It is stylish, chic and modern, whilst having a warmth making it easy to relax. Attentive staff and comfortable seating is another plus point. The food whilst minimalistic was lovely, rich and full of flavour, the 2 free courses were tastful. A downside being it is very expensive it was £140.00 for myself and my husband. Also the toilets were small and were not male/female designated. A lovely meal, tad overpriced but pleased i went.

Abstract in Edinburgh has a different atmosphere to its sister restaurant in Inverness as well as a different menu. The food was still excellent and well worth a visit.

Abstract - located at the foot of Edinbugh's castle. An incredibledining experience that should not be missed! Delicious fresh Scottish produce transformed into a sensuous work of art which truly tantalised the tastebuds. After our meal in this romantic restaurant we retired to the piano bar to sample some of the Scotch whiskey on offer. We would definately dine here again when we return to Edinburgh!

This was our third visit and certainly not the last. A lovely relaxed meal before the Hogmanay rush. Excellent value and the deep fried eggs were a novel experience.

I cannot recommend Abstract in Edinburgh highly enough. Service impeccable. I chose scallops with chicken wings to start, which was superbly cooked and partridge to follow, again excellent. My partner had baked cod with oxtail (a strange combination, but it worked well). we were given mini samples of other dishes on the menu - a chilled cucumber soup as an appetizer, plus a frothy cappuccino syle dessert which again was delicious. The bill at £100 was a bit steep, but worth it for the quality.

Abstract in Edinbough. Very pricy, thats what our taxi driver warned ! He was not wrong, so we paced ourselves. Portions are small, I guess you need to do the tasting meue of 7 courses, we went Al a carte, 3 course's not enough ! However thats is all we could afford. It was O.K. Ambience in the bar with painist good ( however he doen't know his composers , great style and voice however, Knock down the wall and have open plan so we can hear him ! ) This would give better overall ambience. O.K.

This restaurant, Abstract, was fantastic. We sat at the Chef's table (highly recommended), had a superb meal, and the energy & tansion from the kitchen was incredibly entertaining. I have only given it 9 for food because I have extreemly high standards... the only restaurant in the UK I would give 10 is Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir aux quat' saisons! Abstract is the best restaurant I have been to in Edinburgh.

We booked Saturday lunch at Abstract and my mum and my only disappointment was that it wasn't busier. The staff - all French - were wonderful; smiley and efficient, never hovering but always close at hand. The food was a revelation - excellent value given the quality of the ingredients and sublime combinations; okay, portions are not big but they are perfectly adequate, beautifully balanced and a feast for the eyes and tastebuds. Stylish decor - glittering gold and green. Loved the cutlery too!
Eg. italian, Ritz, Benitos, meatballs...
